[Imc-bristol-tech] Updating your cities list (and other cron jobs)

Dear Bristol Indymedia,

All indymedia groups that are recognised as indymedia are obliged to 
link to all other recognised indymedia groups such as Indymedia 
Scotland. Under the dadaimc web solution bristol (and scotland) use this 
is done by links in left hand column box which is made up from entries 
taken from:
http://www.indymedia.org/citydata.xml

This file should be copied everyday with a cron job, that uses curl to 
trigger the php script that does regular tasks such as this.
But with your site this does not seem to have been done. Do you know 
where problem is that is preventing this?

Has cronjob been set up?

crontab -e

you might not have curl on the server check in cron error log.

This is what we found on Indymedia Scotland hosting so I changed the 
code of cronmaster.php to allow it to be triggered by any external call 
and set curl cronjob from another server.

Someone with a login with admin status for your site should check if you 
can trigger the cron jobs manually and report back here with any error 
messages. Login to site and go to:
http://bristol.indymedia.org/admin/Cronmaster/

check in dada error log, which can be viewed by admin.

Also then if you the cronjobs sorted out, getting you rss feed to update 
hourly, you can update your own entry in
http://contact.indymedia.org
with your rss syndication feed location then your features can be listed 
in right hand column on http://indymedia.org
