Re: Anarchist 606 comments about the bristolian
feature- It seems that Tony has made some incorrect
assumptions about who posted the feature.
It would be nice to hear some conciliatory noises
coming from Tony if he is serious about wanting to be
a active part of the project.

whilst i understand the reasons behind that I do think
that it set's a dangerous precedent for a 'open

cursory exchange on a e-mail list.

I would object to you doing so before it has been
agreed by consensus at a open meeting.

I would prefer it if we were to set in place a set of
guidelines for editorial behavior and procedures for
contacting the press etc.
The problem as i see it, is that there is no guideline
of agreed process for speaking to third parties 'on
behalf' of indymedia. This allows those that thrive on
controversy and conflict to generate discord in this
way.

In my view anyone who is responding to a e-mail to
this list should cc this list any communications that
they send.

Anyone who is in contact with a journalist should send
any proposed copy to this list and leave at least 24
hours for responses.

Tony-
The bunker feature article read like a cut'n paste job
from the bath chronical- It was discussed at a meeting
and several of us (myself included) agreed that it
should be 'demoted' to a newswire article, Ian was
careful not to get involved in that discussion. We
have explained this to you several times, and agreed
that it was handled badly, so please stop bringing it
up- It was NOT Ian who was responsible for that
decision.

Re; The decision to remove you from the e-mail list
moderating function- I understood that you had not
been active in moderating the list, and whilst I think
it would have been better for this to have been a
group decision rather than Ian's alone- it is not
something which would cause you to be excluded in a
significant way.

I also think that you need to be clear that the 'links
to fascist groups' allegation has not come out of
Bristol but from the UK network as a consequence of
your website links to David Irving and the Free
republic group, and from your use of a e-mail footer
with links to your bildeberg website (which in turn
links to the free republic and david irving).

No one in bristol has accused you of being fascist and
in fact (despite your recent destructive and divisive
interview) We have been defending your reputation and
trying to defuse the move to have you formally thrown
out of indymedia organising.

In light of the above I would hope that you are now
able to adopt a more conciliatory and co-operative
approach towards the others in this project. If you
continue to be combative then I would speculate that
other people may come round to Ian's way of thinking.

regards Sam
