this looks good for breaking news of an urgent nature.

hmmm, not so keen on this one.

i like this better. in my browser it just means all text is the same size.
i think having the events calendar (and the `comments' etc underneath a
newswire title) in smaller text just makes it unreadable.

there's a whole heap of images at this link:
http://publish.indymedia.org.uk/img/
including ones that start with the word `video'. if you want to see a
newswire with a little video under titles go here:
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/oxford/
if you go to this page and look at the newswire:
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/liverpool/
you'll see there's also a symbol for `audio.'

erm, not quite sure what you mean. but here's a few that occur to me:
static page:
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/cambridge/static/about_us.html
(particularly worth checking that the title appears in the new format. it
doesn't in the old).
feature/ newswire:
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/cambridge/2004/08/296732.html
archives:
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/cambridge/newswire/archive.html
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/cambridge/feature/archive.html
finally can you add that `need' into `help with publishing?'. thank you my
son.
hope that's useful for yourself. rock on, nick :)
