John Dimond-Gibson and two other members of Haiti Action Halifax have been
in Haiti for over a month, looking at the critical situation on the ground
since the February 7th presidential elections. As John explains, many
Haitians are calling these elections and Rene Preval's victory a turning
point in the two years of chaos that the country has suffered since the
2004 coup d'etat sponsored by the USA, France, and Canada. John discusses
some of the reactions to the elections from the most impovrished parts of
Port au Prince, and also last minute attempts by the outgoing coup regime
to consolidate their power grasp.

John Dimond-Gibson has a blog at http://haiti.nspirg.org

Interview recorded by Stefan Christoff and produced by Aaron Lakoff for
the CKUT community news collective in Montreal.
