I am writing to you on behalf of Film Movement, a full service US
distributor of foreign, independent, and documentary films, to alert you of
our recent acquisition of DAY BREAK, from Iran, directed by Hamid Rahmanian.

 

I am writing to see if you are interested in reviewing the film or using it
as a platform for discussion. Please get back to me at your earliest
convenience so we can send you a screener. The film's director and producer
currently reside in NYC and are available for interviews and/or commentary
and are fluent in both English and Farsi. I am also attaching a DAY BREAK
Press Kit for your perusal.  In the meantime, here is a synopsis of the
film, taken from the Press Kit:

In Iran, capital punishment is carried out according to Islamic law, which
gives the family of the victim ownership of the offender's life. Day Break -
based on a compilation of true stories and shot inside Tehran's century-old
prison - revolves around the imminent execution of Mansour, a man found
guilty of murder. When the victim's family repeatedly fails to show up on
the appointed day, Mansour's execution is postponed again and again. Stuck
inside the purgatory of his own mind, he waits as time passes on without
him, caught between life and death, retribution and forgiveness.

We are very proud of this film as we feel it depicts an aspect of Iranian
culture rarely seen by American audiences. We invite you to take a look at
the film and see if you might want to screen it and, at the very least,
consider using it as a platform for discussion among the members of your
organization.

 

We are also theatrically releasing the film. Our first engagement is in
Chicago from May 19th - 25th.  Please let me know if you are interested in
