What is the true cost of “non-lethal” weaponry? Torture, death and  
corporate monopolies, reports Senior Editor Silja J.A. Talvi.  
“Stunning Revelations” exposes the misuses and abuses of the Taser  
brand stun gun that have lead to the deaths of over 200 people since  
2001.

“Increasingly, law enforcement officials use such weapons to subdue  
society’s most vulnerable members,” Talvi writes, “including  
prisoners, drug addicts and the mentally ill, along with ‘passive  
resisters,’ like the protesters demonstrating against Florida  
Governor Jeb Bush’s attendance of a Rick Santorum fundraiser in  
Pittsburgh on Oct. 9.”

“Stunning Revelations” also documents the skepticism and concerns of  
leading law enforcement agencies—including the International  
Association of Chiefs of Police and the Police Executive Research  
Forum—and human rights groups such as Amnesty International regarding  
the rise of the Taser in civilian markets. To date, over 115,000  
civilians own Tasers, and the corporation has begun aggressively  
promoting the Taser X26C civilian model in cities across the country.
