Here's the minimal info I've gleaned so far on this. On a related topic, Maurice Morales is typically willing to do videotaping for events like this, but he's so backed up he would probably need someone else to do any post-taping work to get the results out there. Otherwise, you could wait for a year!

Tom is probably better prepared to answer this than I.
Generally if you want to stream video in a usable manner whether for video-conferencing or other applications, you should have a pretty robust internet connection. In other words, a cable modem probably provides enough bandwidth (although maybe not, the upload speeds are significantly less than the download speeds, depending on your type of connection) but running it through a laptop that may be on wireless would reduce your bandwidth.
Anyway, just some things to think about.

Some time ago the suggestion was put forth to webstream some of the conference. I consulted with a videographer friend yesterday and he said it could be done as simply as signing up for an account on UStream and having a laptop with simple video camera -- even the one that comes installed in some -- and the laptop's mic or one plugged into a USB port. While this is the simplest solution (and I signed up for a UStream account just in case) the picture and sound quality will be about what you would expect.
My question to the group is do you have anyone coming to the conference from among your group who is knowledgeable about the issues involved in web streaming and who would donate their expertise so that people who are unable to come to DC could benefit from the conference? It would also be great if afterwards we could make some of the talks available to watch/listen to on the LASC webpage.
I am in no way competent to head up this effort, so I'm throwing this out their in the hopes that among us we have someone who is.
