[imc-christchurch] [Diary] Fahrenheit 9/11 pre-release screenings

Well, of course you've all heard all about Fahrenheit 9/11... here's what
Bush spokesman Dan Bartlett had to say: "This is a film that doesn't require
us to actually view it to know that it's filled with factual inaccuracies."
I can't think of a higher recommendation.

The Greens are holding a pre-release screening on Sunday 25th of July at
8:30 pm, tickets are $12 from the Green Party Office, 16 Bedford Row. RDU is
also holding a pre-screening, with free beer; tickets will be $10 but only
available to RDUnited members (if you've ever considered signing up, it's
pretty well worth it).

I am most pissed off. Over the weekend, the Senate Intelligence Committee or
some such organ released a report saying there was never any reason to
believe Iraq had WMD, and laid the blame for "inflating" the intel at the
feet of the intelligence agencies. John Rockefeller, speaking for the
Committee, said that there had been a global intelligence failure, extending
to America's allies and to the UN.

Hold on. If memory serves me, ten million people knew all this a year ago,
and took to the streets to shout it out. Dubya said listening to them would
be like governing by focus group. As for the UN? Rockefeller's just lying.
The Security Council just laughed at Colin Powell when he brought his
"proof" of Iraq's weapons before them. They didn't even authorise the
invasion! Looks like someone's intelligence was still working, even if it
wasn't Colin's.

I suppose we're just meant to forget this, cos the news presenters sure
didn't mention any of it.
