[imc-christchurch] Activist Diary is back! Sort of!

Way back in the depths of history I used to do a (semi-) weekly mailout with
info about upcoming protests and fora and stuff like that. Then my computer
went on strike for better hours and I've been negotiating with it ever
since.
The good news is that I've got a scab computer to come in and pick up the
load. The other good news is, this has prompted me to stop doing the Diary
as a mailout, and put it on a website instead: http://hepl.blogspot.com
That's the High-Energy Politics Lab. We don't have a 200km cyclotron... yet.
It's updated several times a week, and every Sunday there's an update that
collects together all the activites that are coming up that week.
In addition, I am now doing a regular slot on the local student radio
station, RDU 98.5 FM. (almost) every Sunday at 4pm, I get 15 minutes of fame
to talk about activist issues and events. Over the last few weeks, we've had
activists calling in and talking about their issues with an audience of
thousands. I think that these two developments represent a powerful tool for
Christchurch activists. This project is designed to give you, activists, a
voice, and that's the next part of the project.
Up until now, it's been mainly just me working on putting out this stuff
each week, with the occasional assistant pulling information together. I
don't think I can keep doing that forever, nor do I think I should be the
only one to have easy access to these advantages. So I'm looking to put
together a team to work on the Lab with me. It's more than just weekly
notices, I'm also setting up a section for people to order activist
resources, links to current campaigns and activist sites. With the
involvement of the Chch activist community, I think this project can go a
long way.
Keep sending me your info, sites to check out, political rants, anything.

Why use a blog?
- accessible anywhere: you don't need access to your inbox to use it
- users can browse through the activities that interest them, rather than
everything in the Diary
- easy to refer people to (so do it!)
- up-to-date each day
- links!
- automatic archiving
- a team can work on it
