hi! i agree that particular posters who may be abrasive shouldn't be altogether banned, however this particular troll has no interest in discussion.  he/she goes to various imc's and prints either comments or cartooons that are intended to be offensive.  this is the same person who has been making fake postings under "nessie", i believe.  

the reason i know this particular troll is the same person who repeatedly makes offensive comments is from the spam log; if you look up the IP of the recent "debate coach" comment, and search the comments/articles for those with the same IP, you will see a laundry list of (nothing but) inciting, offensive comments ("arabs are all murderers", "imc sucks", that sort of thing).  the same IP, using different names every time, has had many visits in the last month in particular (although has been posting here on and off for years).

also: try a google search using keywords - indymedia "debate coach" - you'll see a string of other offensive comments the person has made all over the imc network.   often, he/she will take the name of actual regular user to our site and make mocking comments.  

i do not have an ethical dialemma checking the IP of a user who has made many, many harrassing posts and racist statements.

What are the ethics of tracing someone down who posts
anonomously. I always thought it was cool that someone
could post to our site and keep their anominity. But I
dont like trolls. I want things to be transparent too.
If tech abled people in our group can and are tracing
posts I think that should be done openly with everyone
agreeing it is necessary.

Also I heard that there is a possibility that someone
has been hiding posts on our site who is not a member
of our group. Anyone know anything about this?

Just some thoughts. I can never give good opinions I
guess because I dont find the time to read those long
comments alot of the time. What do others think. Even
if you arent a "three meeting member" we want your
input too.
