[Imc-cleveland] Police Brutality Incident

On the morning of Wednesday, August 9 2006, beween 8:30 and 8:40 a.m., a black man was brutally beaten by four Cleveland police officers at the number 8 RTA bus stop on Superior Avenue. The incident unfolded as follows. The man, a thin and elderly African American, was hanging on to the back of a moving food delivery truck. The driver had presumably called the police, and when they arrived, they pounced on him and beat him brutally. There was absolutely no resistence from the victim, who was too old and frail to be a threat of any sort. After being beaten severely with sticks, he was yanked off the truck and hit his stomach on a newspaper stand on the pavement. He lay on the ground while the four officers kicked his shin mercilessly. After that he was pulled up, bleeding at the mouth and unable to stand, and whisked away.
   
The incident was witnessed by the entire number 8 bus which had pulled up at the time. Many people, including the driver of the 8:40 bus, witnessed this horrific incident.
