Hi everyone,

This is Dana, a former volunteer with the Cleveland IMC. I'm writing because
I'm also a member of the American Friends Service Committee, based out of the
Akron-area. We decided at our last committee meeting that we wanted to support
an effort to create an alternative, political newspaper for the northeast Ohio
region. Tom P, who some of you know (he works with C-Space, NOAC, and a few
other projects) is also on the AFSC and told us that he spoke to Abigail and
Patrick, I think, about this idea.

Apparently Pittsburgh has a pretty successful paper like this which combines
articles written by various political organizations in the P-burgh area. The
newspaper allows them to do greater outreach to new constituencies, for less
cost than making tons of fliers would. If each organization partaking int he
project contributed an article for each issue, it would be relatively painless
to generate a full newspaper that would be relevant to the region's activist
community. Tom and I thought that the IMC would be a nice place to start this
project. It also could be a way to attract new members to the IMC collective
and reinvigorate everyone.

So, AFSC has endorsed this general idea and hopefully we could get other
organizations on-board as well. What do those of you active with the IMC
think??

In solidarity,
Dana
(in Akron)
