AMERICA WANTS PEACE,
NOT WAR!
Join us on
Saturday
OCTOBER 27th
1:30 p.m. Union Park Rally
3:00 p.m. March to Loop
4:00 p.m. Federal Plaza Rally
to call upon our government to:
BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!
STOP THE VIOLENCE AT HOME & ABROAD; NO WIDER WARS!
DEFEND OUR CIVIL LIBERTIES & IMMIGRANT RIGHTS!
FUND HUMAN NEEDS, NOT THE WAR!
Why will we take a stand?
"If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor
freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without
plowing up the ground. ...Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never
did and it never will."--Frederick Douglass

How can we participate?
We're coming as ourselves. If we are union members, we'll wear our union
jackets. If we are businesspeople, we'll wear a suit. If we are hospital
workers, we'll wear our lab coats. We'll carry signs that say whatever we
have to say and identify ourselves however we want to identify ourselves.
Well take trains, buses, and cars (arrival and parking info below under
Details & Tips.) We can endorse as a group, or just show up as an
individual. We can gather our neighbors together and come up with a theme of
our own.
Details & Tips
Parking information is available on our website (upper left hand corner,
under Resources, click on the appropriate maps.) To find parking places
downtown you can go to www.chicagoparking.com or www.grantparking.com
<http://www.grantparking.com/> .
Union Park is at 1501 W. Randolph. It borders Lake and Ashland Streets
([plus Washington, Ogden and Randolph). That intersection is served by the
Green Line CTA train.
March distance is 1.7 miles. If you are unable to march, you can take the
Green Line CTA train back downtown along with many others from the rally.
CTA information is available at www.transitchicago.com
<http://www.transitchicago.com/> . That website includes information about
accessibility and phone numbers you can call to confirm that accessibility
elevators are functioning.
Federal Plaza is downtown at Adams and Dearborn. The plaza is located near
the blue line subway. The event ends at 6:00 p.m.
You could bring water, pocket snacks, a cell phone and the cell phone
numbers of others in your group. Your group might plan a place to meet at
the end of the event in case you are separated. The police do not like it
when you put your signs on poles that could be used as a weapon. Slat wood
(like that used in snow fencing) is fine.
Endorse the event by contacting us at oct27chicago at gmail.com
<mailto:www.oct27chicago at gmail.com> or call us at 773-384-5799 . A $50-100
contribution is encouraged (more if you can afford it.) Checks should be
made to CAWI/Oct.27 and mailed to 3411 W. Diversey, #3, Chicago, IL 60647.
Additional information & updates can be found at our website:

SEE YOU THERE!
