i missed the meeting (though i read the log), but i corrected and did
some NPOVing of the CMS_Summary:
http://www.techmeet.org/txt/CMS_Summary
The previous version said almost nothing about the fact that the process
and several irc discussions from a year ago stalled around Nov/Dec, and
it made it sound like all our work in listing the characteristics we would
like for a small number of preferred or recommended IMC CMSes were mostly
ignored in favour of what just one person (ryan) thought in terms of his
preferences for which characteristics are most important.
Anyway, i won't try to summarise today's irc meeting on #cms, since i wasn't
around, but if noone else posts the log, i'll do that.
However, just two quick comments:
* It seems to me that some of the discussion focussed on
maintainability, compactness and clarity of the code, and ease of
new developers to get involved and get stuff done - at least from my
own experience, samizdat satisfies these criteria.
* Another point was that both normal users publishing articles and/or
comments, and moderators (people hiding articles, putting them in the
centre column etc.) should be able to do their tasks with a minimum
of "technical difficulty" - i think samizdat satisfies this: the
default format is more or less the same as the mir default format
(while html and textile are available optionally), and moderators
have essentially the same interface as ordinary users, but when
they choose to activate their moderate function, they find some
extra buttons such as "hide".
