Web services are a good idea.

I've got an activist social network that runs using web services 
(www.activismnetwork.org/www.campusactivism.org), so i'm familiar with 
web services (and a lot less familiar with imc software).

Having a global search and a single point of entry to access as many imc 
stories as possible seem like good ideas.  A global api could really 
open up how the imc news is used and syndicated on other sites (facebook 
aps and more).
