invitation and agenda for the "Encounter of 
Indymedias" being planned for July 28th as part 
of the Social Forum of the Americas in Quito, 
Ecuador.  Apologies if you have already seen this

Encounter of Indymedias

Dear friends,

a cordial salutation from those of us who 
comprise the coordinating committee of Indymedia 
Ecuador.

As you know, between the 22 and 30 of July the 
Encampment of Youth and Social Forum of the 
Americas will occur.  For this event we have 
knowledge that various companions of INDYMEDIAS 
of distinct countries are coming.  We think it 
would be good to have a time between Indys during 
which we can share experiences.

We propose covering the following points:

1. Policies of Indymedia.
Strengthen alternative proposals of communication 
and genuine/timely social information which 
counters the alienating and homogenizing 
information industry of transnational 
corporations.  We can also analyze our own 
behavior and participation in social movements.

2. Strengthening the articulation of themes and regions.
To improve the flow of information on themes of 
political interest, audio/visual materials, and 
documents in every country and at the regional 
level, including that which has to do with the 
exchange of the IMCs' technical information.

3. Finances.
We think it would be good to work on the 
definition of some policies of financing and 
about solidarity between the IMCs.

4. Work and agenda for the upcoming period.
Finalize making some agreements to work together 
and defining priorities in the agenda of social 
movements which may confront the neoliberal 
attack.
