Hi,

There seem to be some strange reactions or conclusions about the changes
we have made to our homepage to prepare for the mediation.

What people seem to forget is that changing the url (or ones of the
active url's) of a site is not a simple matter. There are 5 years of
links, images and files within the pages and the db pointing to
belgium.indymedia.org. We are talking of 100000's links.
Changing the url just like that means litteraly BREAKING the website and
put our website down.

As a techie and imc-belgium volunteer, I try hard to minimalize the
possible negative impacts that a swift change ("Change the dns'!") would
have for our public. I have spent already many hours on this matter.

It is not because we do not agree with the wording of the German
proposal, that we are closing all doors. We try really hard to make
mediation possible.

If agreed by mediation, we can host a static page with the layout and
content agreed by the concerning parties. Before yesterday this was
technically not possible, now it is.

I ask you to please no to jump to conclusions because a techie wants to
minimalize the impact of totally breaking our site. If you want a
official decition, you'll only read this on a mail of our liason.

Thanks to anyone that had sencere doubts or questions,

Claudio, the imc-belgium volunteer that made the changes to
www.indymedia.be and belgium.indymedia.be
