Your concerns are heard here at the U-C IMC. They have been forwarded to
the U-C IMC list. The steering committee, however, meets every other
Thursday, so they will not be able to take any action on your request for
a public apology (on behalf of the U-C IMC though, there have been
individual apologies) before your request of it happen before Wednesday.
Please know that in spite of the legal standing of the U-C IMC in the US,
this position is only on paper, and only is applicable in the US. We hold

IMC), and only wish to be helpful to others if so asked.

>> First, I'd like to thank all of you for bringing this concern to our attention and I'd like to sincerely apologize for the statement that was made during the press conference. Also, I'd like to let you know that I, and many other ucimc members, hear you loud and clear, are equally concerned, and are taking this very seriously. Like Brian has already said this matter was brought up last night in a very long steering comittee meeting, and there were many people who also shared this concern. I admit that I do not understand the workings of the global indymedia network structure, finances, fiscal sponsorship or otherwise, but it is my opinion that dave berliner did not misquote what was said (the context, the intention and the factuality of the statement could be argued.... and was) but the statement did occur. And, I would like to reassure you, and others, that even if the ucimc is a fiscal sponsor that I, and many others, believe in the absolute autonomy of local IMCs and completely reject any idea that that would make us the 'umbrella under which the whole network operates' .... and completely understand why such a statement would infer hierarchy and make anyone concerned.
>> Admittedly, I do not know how this all will be resolved in the end.... but, I invite you and others to please keep the critiques, comments, and concerns coming because I personally think we need it. And, there are many of us listening to what you have to say.
