Friends,
Hello,

Sorry for the brevity and format of my letter, but it is appropriate
given the alarmist letter above to which it is a response:

1. I would like to propose that we BLOCK this proposal from Stacy
before it is even proposed formally.

2. I would like to propose that we hear from imc-Arizona and Imc-Sydney
if Stacy speaks on their behalf, or only for herself.

3. I would like to propose that we invest our time, energy, concern, our
care and personal/political bonds into new efforts toward revitalizing
the process of imc-finance by encouraging collective participation in
the dialogue by the liaisons of local and global groups enrolled in
imc-finance.

Toward that purpose, I would volunteer myself - and I would encourage
others among us to also volunteer:
a. to help moderate/ administer the imc-finance list, aiming to refresh
membership, agenda, dialogue, and democratic process;
b. to communicate with Sheri (one of the founders of the imc-finance
group), with our previous Treasurer, with the current Treasurer, with
our current Bookeeper, in order to get a dependable accounting of the
past and present, and to report back to the group so that we can be
enabled to make better decisions.

We need to re-ignite our democratic collectivity and participation in
the dialogue and the work of imc-finance, not to "divide up the money".

The position that was stated above as "anything else would be
irresponsible and inevitably corrupt" is not at all helpful toward
re-organizing our functions. On the contrary, it locks our members into
further paralysis by labelling as "corrupt" any effort to revive our
financial process.

Please, friends, consider this:
The generous benefactors who donated the funds to our global indymedia
network were motivated by our process of imc direct democracy and by our
sense of mission as both independent journalists and radical activists.
Our benefactors gave in order to support indymedia in its role as the
unofficial organ of expression for the global liberation movement. Our
duty to them is to serve our mission - *not* to divide up the money and run.

Please friends, you have seen that our process needs to be revived,
revitalized. Send us your nod, your concerns, your questions, your
participation.

Petros,
volunteer, Cyprus IndyMedia, new-imc
