have you tried 'gaim'? that seems to be a client that's quite easy to
use for silc as well as irc, i think.

i don't really want to push a decision to use silc - also because i
think chat meetings can barely be more than a chance to get to know each
other a bit and to exchange some ideas, and also because i may not be
able to participate myself. just wanted to mention that found gaim
