Hi,
as some of you may already have realized, most of the IP addresses used
by Riseup have been put on an email blacklist today. This means that all
mail servers within the IP range RiseUp may currently have difficulties
to transport email to other mail servers.
This also affects sarai, the mail server which manages email sent to
lists.indymedia.org and indymedia.org email addresses. This means that
messages you sent to email addresses on these two domains, such as
SOMETHING at indymedia.org or SOMETHING at lists.indymedia.org throughout the
day, have likely not reached all of the intended recipients.
It may therefore be worth considering to resend important emails you
already sent today and to wait with sending adidtional important emails
until this issue has been resolved.
This is in no way RiseUp's fault, nor the fault of anyone adminstering
the above mail server, i.e. the Listwork working group. Instead, this is
a result of the 'Spamhaus SBL' mail server block list adding all of
RiseUp's upstream provider on their blacklist, which is used to block
spam by many mailservers throughout this planet to reject email sent
through listed servers as those are usually spammers.
The reason why RiseUps upstream provider was added to this blacklist is
probably that some of this providers' clients or their sub-clients sent
spam or did similar nasty things. You can have a look at
http://www.spamhaus.org/sbl/sbl.lasso?query=SBL43537 for technical
details. RiseUp is in contact with people and work is underway to have
the situation resolved.
Please note that you will probably not be notified when this issue has
been resolved. The only way to find out easily and for sure is to have a
look at
http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=208.99.202.32
and check whether it still says "208.99.202.32 is listed in the SBL".
When it stops saying this, the issue is resolved.
Sorry, once again no translation, but I prefer passing the message in
one language than not at all, which would be the other option.
