By your intellectual apartheid rules http://de.indymedia.org/2007/12/201988.shtml should get the mod-box because it announces a coming event. Happily it has not (yet!). Bravo! Too soon? Diet
Hi!
I' sorry, please stop writing me emails and use the public lists. I'll not respond to private emails.

Skep,
I have no objection to your shifting anything I write in this matter across
to the list/s you suggest if YOU think that achieves more. I'll stay where I
am, although - as you rightly point out - no one there seems to care a damn.
Regards,
Diet
Diet,
I don't care if you trust me or not, but in my opinion most imcistas
don't even know about _this_ list. imc-communication and/or imc-process
are the big lists for global network-related stuff. I mean..the response
on this list is quite marginal, can't you see that? I'm quite sure more
people will participate on the other lists. Thats all..it really was an
honest suggestion, but i can't force you to follow my advice.
ciao

Hallo All,
I don't trust your advice, Skep, so I'll stay with this list, thanks. Unless
someone I can trust tells me the others are better for my purpose.
And I emphasise here that I speak only for myself, not in the name of any
imc. My 'home'-IMC is Sydney and anyone is welcome to inquire there about my
standing.
I have repatriated to Australia from Germany where I spent years trying to
get de.indy to change its elitist, marginalising, censorial stance. It has
become time to try to mobilise more IMC-wide muscle against it.
I say again, anyone who is not a 'writer' is excluded from political
participation on de.indy. There are a million reasons for people not being
'writers', not the least of which is underprivileged education. To deny
these people a chance to sign on to a petition, for example, is intellectual
apartheid and, in my view, decidely un-IMC.

Hello!
Ok, I don't think it makes much sense that Diet tries to solve the
problem on _this_ list (imc-resolv). So to Diet: If you want
de.indymedia.org dissaffiliated, please write a formal proposal to:
imc-communication at lists.indymedia.org
OR if you speak in the name of an imc to:
imc-process at lists.indymedia.org
These lists are the appropriate ones for such requests and most imc's
should have at least one volunteer on it so you will get a bigger
audience.
On a sidenote: About the removed mod-box. Different moderators have
different opinions if articles are still reports or have already crossed
the border to calls for demonstrations ect., so in this case one
moderator "overruled" the previous decision by another mod and removed
the mod-box. Thats the whole secret :-)
Anyway..have a nice day.

Have a look at http://de.indymedia.org/2007/12/201727.shtml now - the
"mod-box" skep refers to below is now gone. No explanation.
Have they had a rethink? Are they disagreed among themselves?
To nip any further slur on my character or IMC record in the bud, I request
that you glance briefly at
http://www.google.com.au/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=t&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGIG_enAU222AU223&q=%22diet+simon%22+Independent+Media.
You can also check my standing with Sydney IndyMedia.
Please take away their right to use the IndyMedia name and throw them off
the server until a new group comes in that doesn't play their elitist game.

Hello from germany!
This update from Diet is another joke (sorry to say so). As stated
clearly on de.indymedia.org, calls for demonstration will not appear on
the frontpage of de.indy, because in germany we have ALOT of good
website for just that (announcing actions, demonstrations ect) and
de.indy is not in competition with them and we respect these websites.
Therefore ALL (not just diet's) articles with announcements, leaflets,
flyers, demo-calls ect. won't appear on the startpage and get the so
called "mod-box" on top (where we state why such "articles" won't appear
on the startpage).
And it doesn't help if diet write in a comment under this article that
this is elitist behaviour. Btw. Diet, comments are not for your personal
dispute with de.indy, but for additional information about the article!
So, in reality you are the one who misuses indymedia (in this case) and
people like you are the reason why we have these mod-boxes (otherwise
de.indy would choke in demo-calls, leaflets, flyers and would be
unusable).
I'm really tired of this constant rants from Diet. He's unwillingly to
understand the reasons why de.indy has such a policy (as stated above,
de.indy couldn't exist without them anymore..sad but true..thanks to
people like Diet).
Anyway, I'm just tired of him.
NOTE: This email is just my personal opinion and doesn't reflect the
opinion of the de.indymedia.org collective.
ciao
