[Imc-communication] radio in africa : spreading news - looking for lots of info

hi dunk here working on
Indymedia radio support for WSF 2007 from Kenya 

and id like to create or find articles about radio in africa: its history, evolution,  connection with social movements, the impact of the windup radio on how news gets dissementated and anything else that might be helpful

i worked with some of the simbani network at the g8 in scotland and was told many stories of the different mechanisms that go to spreading word:
from live streaming to audio being written out, translated and read out on a local terestrial station to be picked up within a very short range by the newly acquired wind ups..

any pointers are most welcome, both on the net or books or mags about it
