I'm xaba, from Indymedia Brazil.
Actualy I'm helping in the process of Indymedia Paraguay.

Indymedia Paraguay with other groups are working to publishing the news
from the "Summit of the People of the South: Constructing Sovereignty"
("Cumbre de los Pueblos del Sur - Construyendo Soberanía"), an
internacional event against another Cumbre/Summit of presidents of Latin
America, the "Summit of Government and Chiefs of State of Latin America
and the European Caribe-Unión" ("Cumbre de Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno
de América Latina y el Caribe-Unión Europea")... so that, this is very
important international popular (people) event.

Please, we are working on critical pression, with much haste, in a hurry,
and we are unable to do everything.

Some Indymedia volunteers of others countries from Latin America are
coming to participate of the Cumbre/Summit and to help us. We love it! ;)

[CMI-Paraguay] URGENT EDITORIAL PROPOSAL: "Summit of the People of the
South: Constructing Sovereignty"

"Summit of the People of the South: Constructing Sovereignty"

All civil, social, laboral, indigenous, and non governmental movements,
organizations, and peoples are invited to participate in the "Summit of
the People of the South: Constructing Sovereignty" that will be held on
the 27th, 28th  and 29th  of June, 2007, in Asunciòn, Paraguay.

The objectives of the "Summit of the People of the South" are to:
-Continue the debates discussed in previous popular summits (Summit of the
People in Chile 1998, Quebec 2001, Mar de Plata 2005, Còrdoba 2006,
Cochabamba 2006).
-Generate an expanded alliance between the different social sectors
-Discuss in detail the fixation of the soveriegnty of the region.

The "Summit of the People of the South: Constructing Sovereignty" is
organized by: POJOAJU, Popular and Social branches of the NGO of Paraguay
- Coordinator of Representative Unions of Paraguay - Paraguayan Initiative
for the Integration of the People (Continental Social Alliance Chapter) -
Mercoser Program (Social and Supportive) - Without Excuses: The Resistence
of Poverty in Paraguay - Organizations of the Indiginous and Farm
Laborors.

The movements of the summit will be held from the 27th-29th  of June. On
Thursday, the 28th, the primary day of workshops and dialogues, there will
be seven (7) panels functioning simultaneously in order to cover all of
the topics proposed for the Summit.

In these panels, the principal ideas of the participating organizations
will be presented, explaining the situation, mechanisisms of
implementation, suggested work and commitment, various projects, and
future action. The dialogue of every panel will ultimately be used to edit
and rework the proposed declaration of every discussion panel,
subsequently revised in a final session that will be held to agree upon
the ultimate declaration of the summit.

The sections of the program are as follows:
1. Agriculture: Nutricional Sovereignty and Agronegocitations
2. The Militarization, Criminalization of the Social Struggles Against the
"Anti Terrorist Laws".
3. Energy, Infrastructure, Development of Politics.
4. Alliance Between Social Movements and Political Organizations in the
Process of Change in the A.L. and Paraguay.
5. Generation of Employment Opportunities, Migration and Labor Rights.
6. Social Inclusion - Identity - Diversity - Culture.
7. Asymmetry in the Integration of the People.

This conference will be held locally in the Asociaciòn de Empleados de
Cervepar S.A. (Employers Asociation of Cervepar of South America) in the
town of Lambarè, neighboring the capital city, Asunciòn, Paraguay, and not
far from the official Summit of the Presidents which is located in the
most luxurious yacht club in the country.

On the 29th , a multitude of marches will be called on to celebrate and
culminate the international summit of social movements. The march seeks to
condense the diversity of Paraguay and Latin America and at the same time
denounce the grave situation that is violating the Paraguayan people,
especially the social movements which have been criminalized by the
government in their attempt to defend their rights.

In reality, we are in the process of officializing the Collective
IndyMedia Paraguay and for this occasion we will be covering and
transmiting the Summit through alternative medias. You can find all the

through a group of Parguayan frequencies called the Comunica, and also
attempt a live connection on the Internet though the live radio website

Cumbre de los Pueblos del Sur.- Construyendo soberanía
Invitamos a todas las organizaciones, movimientos sociales y a l at s
individuos en general, a participar de la “Cumbre de los Pueblos del Sur-
Construyendo Soberanía” que se realizará los días 28 y 29 de junio del año
en curso, en Asunción, Paraguay.

Los  objetivos de la Cumbre de los Pueblos del Sur son:

-Continuar el debate planteado en las anteriores cumbres populares
(Cumbres de los Pueblos en Santiago de Chile 1998, Québec 2001, Mar del
Plata 2005, Córdoba 2006, Cochabamba 2006).
-Generar una alianza más amplia entre los diferentes sectores sociales.
-Ahondar las discusiones sobre la concreción de la soberanía en la región.
La ‘Cumbre de los Pueblos del Sur- Construyendo Soberanía’, esta
organizada por: Asociación de ONGs del Paraguay POJOAJU - Bloque Social y
Popular - Coordinadora de Centrales Sindicales del Paraguay - Iniciativa
Paraguaya para la Integración de los Pueblos (Capítulo Paraguayo de la
Alianza Social Continental) - Programa MERCOSUR Social y Solidario - Sin
Excusas contra la Pobreza Paraguay – Organizaciones campesinas e
indígenas.
Las actividades de la cumbre se realizarán en dos jornadas los días 28 y
29 de junio-. El día 28 habrá 7 mesas funcionando simultáneamente
ordenadas por los ejes convocantes por la cumbre.

En estas mesas se expondrán los principales puntos de las agendas de las
organizaciones participantes, explicitando la situación, mecanismos de
implementación, actores involucrados, proyectos implementados y propuestas
de acción.  El debate de cada mesa será el insumo para redactar la
propuesta de declaración de cada una, para posteriormente y en una gran
plenaria acordar la declaración final de la cumbre.

Los ejes de trabajos son los siguientes:

1. Agricultura: Soberanía alimentaria y agronegocios.
2. Militarización, criminalización de las luchas sociales y “Ley
Antiterrorista”.
3. Energía, infraestructura, políticas de desarrollo.
4. Alianza entre movimientos sociales y organizaciones políticas en los
procesos de cambios en A.L. y Paraguay.
5. Generación de empleos, Derechos Laborales y Migraciones.
6. Inclusión Social –Identidad – Diversidad – Cultura.
7. Asimetrías en la integración de los Pueblos.
Esta jornada se efectuará en el local de la Asociación de Empleados de
CERVEPAR S.A. (Avda. Perón y Yukyty) en la ciudad de Lambaré, vecina a la
capital de Paraguay, Asunción y a poca distancia de la cumbre oficial que
se ubica en el club mas lujoso del país, el yacht club.
El día 29 se convoca a una marcha multitudinaria para celebrar y culminar
esta cumbre internacional de los movimientos sociales. La marcha quiere
condensar la diversidad paraguaya y latinoamericana y a la vez denunciar
la grave situación que atraviesa el pueblo paraguayo y en especial los
movimientos sociales paraguayos que están siendo duramente criminalizados
en la lucha por sus derechos.
En la actualidad estamos en la fase de oficializar el colectivo de
Indymedia Paraguay y para esta ocasión estaremos cubriendo y transmitiendo
 para diferentes medios alternativos. Pueden seguir toda la información de

estaremos transmitiendo por las radios comunitarias paraguayas agrupadas
en Comunica e intentaremos también retransmitir la cumbre por Internet en
