[Imc-communication] Mataro contra el G8 : Catalan local infospace to help build communication network against g8

Greetings from Mataro / Barcelona

CSOA (centro social okupa autonomia) La Fibra is organising "Mataro contra el G8", a local infopoint for the days 6-9th of June which will include exhibtion, talks, films, live radio in attempt to unite with others around the planet in struggle against the G8. 

We will be playing live radio from indymedia and others here in the social centre as it comes from Germany. We will also do our own radio discussions about local organisation and activity to counter the G8. Some of the Australians who are  presently en route to Germany stayed here and we had many interesting discussions about the "big summit and/or local organisation, mechanisms of resistance", some of which were recorded for audio.

We intend to explore and demonstrate improved mechansims of communication and action by people, groups, places that dont go or cant go to the summit but who want to support and struggle with those that will be there for the demonstrations and actions. Ideas such as a global network of interconnected nodes with local assemblys and criss cross communication through streaming technology is the idea we will try to understand more and push the use of. A previous example of this was an attempt at a 3 way radio project as part of the recent world social forum in Kenya

We believe a wider network of local infopoints can only help fight and inform against the g8, we encourage the setting up of more global nodes. 

We will try to find out if there are other places doing similar infopoints for these days and will possibly try to connect up with them by radio stream. We will also try to offer tek support for other places that try to do similar projects, time permitting. We will build and encourage others to build an audio library of critical views about the g8 and related issues and host it on the R23 streaming systems archive library

We write to anti-G8 organisers to let you know of our plans and also to make a request to you to send us some printed material: flyers, posters, stickers, pamplets, zines..... so as we can include these in the infospace.

We hope all things go as well as they can and there are no repeats of Genoa in terms of cop brutality.
