[Imc-communication] PROPOSAL: Deletion of posts - Darwing IMC Conflict

Hi all,
before we enter a very deep, long and energy consuming debate, I'd like
to get clarification on what we are talking about.

The first mail I have received, concerning this issue was from Shayne,
answering to one (or more?) mails from Mick, in which he requests Indymedia
"...to remove the indymedia posts using my name in the headers". (10/03/08)
Mick states that his name and reputation are being damaged through these
mails/posts.

As the entire conflict went for about 6 years, and there is a lot of
material in the internet, I see the strong need for having precise
information on what we are talking about, from those (so far only Mick)
who have concerns and request deletion of mails/posts.
Without these information, I won't be in the position to make up my mind
about whether these e-mails should/could be taken out of the archives
without distorting the historical context - on this point I fully agree
with Takver's concerns.
From my personal point of view, it also needs a collective decision for
deleting mails from the archives, and therefore I think it is really
important to exactly know what we are talking about.

PROPOSAL:
My suggestion is, that everybody who was involved in the darwin dispute
so far, should have the chance to propose specific e-mails and posts to
be deleted. Maybe this could be done on a new wiki-page.
Let's give this process three month, Deadline: 20 June 2008, and then
start a discussion about the mails and posts listed.

Starting any kind of discussion BEFORE knowing about which mails and
posts we are talking about would just end up in generalisations, new
insults and flame war. Those who were involved in the Darwing Dispute,
probably remember these unpleasant dynamics.

If there are no objections, I would highly appreciate if somebody could
set up the Wiki-Page and people can start listing relevant mails and
postings.

Love & Solidarity,

Ben
