a) the cms groups still exists. they just met in rio for the techmeet
to speak about the current state and developments.
b) some imc's using drupal and the drupal-dev list had the idea to
make a grant to get money for drupal development. The money would be
used to pay developer(s) to make it easy to create a "indymedia like"
drupal installtion (!?!?!?) i also don't really got the specific todo
list here.
c) imc-cms did not asked for a grant or anything
d) i think imc-cms is neither against or for drupal. We know it is
easy to use and a "better" solution for a *small* IMC. Better then
dada or sf-active. However, imc-cms is working on a solution that
provides decentralisation to fight against the repression. Drupal can
not provide this decentralisation. Also, drupal is a very bad choice
for IMCs like brasil or germany where you get allot of traffic. "It
does not scale" as a tech would say. Again, drupal works for small
IMCs, but it would be a very bad choice to say that drupal is the
solution for every IMC. It is not, and it will never be, even with a
grant and a full time developer working on it. So far for technical
reasons that would speak against the grant.
e) however, some people from the imc-cms group are totally against
using money from a NGO.
