Hi Sasha,
I dont think is war, but a *debate*. And I believe debates are a
health way to a network to discuss things that concerns us.
I agree with the others that got the impression that the grant was
wrote as if it was for the whole network, not for a group of collectives.
No one is against the drupal project here. But we all are questioning
why ask a foundation, that the network doesn't identify with at all,
for sooo much money to do a very simple project that was already
started, has a great part of the work already done, and can be easily
finish.
I mean, do a search on docs.indymedia.org for 'drupal' and you will
see soo much documentation about how to build an indymedia site with
drupal.
Included information about how to migrate from Dada to Drupal, which
is what IMC Boston wants to do. And also, it was something I just
followed the process of how to do it with with IMC Israel. (They did
it in a week) They just did it, without needing 200.000 dolares.
Here all the documentation about it:
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Main/WebSearch?search=drupal&web=all&scope=topic
Another thing, to show how great part of the work for this proposal
has already being done without 200.000 dolares. This is the first page
for installing drupal 6.2:
http://teste.muamba.org
Do you see the 'indymedia' installation option??
Even if you guys were going to pay a corporation to do this work it
wouldn't cost more than 5 to 10 thousand dollars.
Really, why to link Indymedia with this Foundation to get a money we
actually don't need?
If all the need is work force to do the project. Than what they need
is the type of work we all know very well: _'grassroot work'_.
Call meetings inviting people from Linux Users Groups and other groups
that could identify with the project. Mobilize people. That is how you
fix this problem.
