Hello Diet,
Thanks for writing. I'm sharing a copy of your letter with the
imc-cyprus Collective members - thanks very much, your letter is one
more helpful "reality check", a confirmation that we're not crazy.
There is a political struggle within indymedia, but it's frozen and
immobilized. Lines are drawn over everything that involves the
Liberation Movement, but we don't talk politics and there are no
pathways to resolve the situations.
All we see and hear are "personal" disagreements, "personalized"
differences over "personal" views. Hiding the political behind the
personal will not resolve anything, of course, but it helps the
oppressor when we accept that false context.
Indymedia is doomed unless we begin to articulate again the values and
principles that should be embraced and embodied by our members, and draw
the lines again of political struggle to redifine indymedia. Otherwise,
it may be time to form a new one.
