The police has seized an indymedia server in the UK (again). Amongst other
sites, it hosted docs.indymedia.org. People are working to recover it.
Meanwhile, Imc uk people are using crabgrass. The other affected sites are back
The seizure occured in connection with an ongoing investigation. The police
required via email to imc uk that personal details of the judge who sentenced
activists from the campaign Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty on the 21st be
removed from the site; and that data about the person who posted these details
The details has already been removed, as imc uk does not encourage people to
publish personal details of third parties. And IP adresses are not logged. The
server was seized anyway.
At present, it is unknown when and if the server will be given back.
"Some people misunderstand their local right of ``freedom of speech'' to mean
that they have a legal right to use others' computers to say what they wish in
whatever way they wish, and the owners of said computers have no right to stop
them. Those people are wrong." (Brandon Kehoe)
