hi,
this seems as good a time as any for me to add my voice in.

i'm afraid i, too, am heading towards the exit. as alster mentioned, a
lot of things are not presently working: imc-process, imc-docs,
listwork, other tech stuff, other indymedia stuff in general... the
burden seems to have fallen on a few, and the few are struggling.
the big dilemma i have been trying to face up to over the past few days
is what to do with the global website: it is lost, isolated, without
tech support. i (and a few others - i think unknowingly) have access to
the publish server, but as far as i know there has been no sysadmin to
really look after it or the primary mirror for greater than six
months. the site itself is broken - specifically, if you care about an
encrypted connection, as the certificate has not worked since all
indymedia certificates were revoked last year.
further, the publish server (traven) is about to be decommissioned:
already long overdue. while the global publish site will be transitioned
to a new host, there is no one to look after it, and it seems merely an
exercise in redundancy. while there have apparently been a number of
features in the last few weeks, the total for the 6 months preceding
was... two. following discussion with the local collectives (where they
still exist), the other sites hosted on traven will be archived; i feel
this is the best option for global also, unless someone else is willing
to take on hosting and administrating the site.
anyway, a long, drawn out goodbye. i am still around to guide others who
wish to take over, but my involvement in indymedia diminishes by the
day. i will shortly be unsubscribing from the majority of lists i am on,
as well as stepping down from list administration duties.
solidarity,
