in the next few weeks i'm hoping to find time to rewrite much of the 
contact db.  it's all very old code (very much in the style of 
my-first-horribly-coded-php-app).  and at this point the contact.indy 
vhost requires a custom php configuration -- turn php notices off (there 
are millions of them), turn magic quotes on (relied on for mysql string 
escaping), etc. -- and there are various other problems with it.

if/when i find time i'm just going to go ahead and work on this since 
the goal is to basically keep the functionality the same (although 
hopefully improve the UI a little).  then it will need some QA, we 
deploy it and hopefully everything still works.. ;)
