first - here's a friendly little greeting i've just sent to the Bamako crew
- translation below.


Chères camarades maliennes -

bienvenue à la reseau Indymedia. Nous sommes prets de vous aider; nous
sommes prêts de collaborer avec vous à commencer de construire une média
alternative, critique, forte et ouverte pour les damnés d'Afrique.

nous nous excusons (en avance) pour la difficulté de langue - pour
l'instant, il y a seulement une personne dans notre collectif qui peut
comprendre la francais (un peu). mais si nous autres ici pouvons conduire
nos reunions dans deux langues - anglais et Xhosa - c'est sûr que nous
pouvons travailler ensemble avec vous. (peut-être on peut commencer
d'apprendre la Bambara...)

bienvenue et n'hesitez pas de nous demander l'assistance. nous essayerons de
temps en temps de traduire quelques articles d'ici en Afrique du Sud pour
contribuer a bamako.alluta.org; et aussi de reposter des articles sur notre
site.

saw the minutes - thanks, Lettie

i'm sorry i missed the meeting, and didn't really get my whatsits done in
time either.

i'll make up the calendar and copies today, bring them along to the next
meeting.

i would propose that we write a new newsletter as our training goal for the
next meeting. if each come with a story - about whatever: municipal
elections? transnet strike? - we could surely scratch a March issue together
with whichever stories work out.

i hope to bring Mimi along to this meeting, so we could also look at photos
again - i know i took some poor ones in Crossroads last week.

but where is Laura Wiens?

apologies again for missing the meeting - i have my weekends in synch now.
