Antur 1831 Insurrection Initiative.
The Pitch Fork is very much a symbol of popular struggle and of peoples resistance to oppression, tyranny and exploitation all of which evils are now in play in the issue of tipping rubbish at Hafod quarry, Johnstown, Wrecsam. The rubbish being dumped is that of Liverpool and this is with it seems the agreement of Wrecsam Council and is being carried out by Mersey Waste. Their email address is enquiries at merseysidewda.gov.uk It will perhaps not surprise you that in this issue our 'SHAM SENEDD' is proving once more it is nought but an ASSEMBLY OF APPEASEMENT WITH ENGLISH IMPERIALISM AND ACCOMMODATOR OF NEO - COLONIALISM. There is no need for I to provide much more information on this issue as it is already been well informed of by a number of organisations and individuals on the web, just do a creative Google search on subject of HAFOD RUBBISH DUMPING. Suffice for me to conclude by calling upon one and all to support the present on going protest struggle against this oppression, tyranny and exploitation. If possible people sympathetic to this struggle may attend the daily protest picket at gates of the dump also try and attend a major protest demonstration rally at Wrecsam Council Offices, Guild Hall this coming Monday evening. I believe the council are meeting to discuss this issue and if there is a massive popular demonstration against the tipping of this rubbish in Wales then it may persuade Wrecsam Council to withdraw support and close the rubbish dump. So check out this information and mobilise for mass popular protest action and determined demonstration, inform others of this and of course prepare protest banners and placards with suitable slogans showing clearly our distress on this issue but also indicating our discontent but determination to win this one OK! Thus in the spirit of ''Bara Neu Waed' PROTEST!!!!!! THIS COMING MONDAY ALL ROADS LEAD TO WRECSAM IN A MASS MOBALISATION OF PROTEST OK!
The Red Pitch Fork was of course used in a number of popular struggles in Wales during the 18th and 19th centuries by rural populations, in numerous struggles to uphold natural justice regard rights to life and livelihood. Epic struggles as the Ceffyl Pren Disturbances (Corn riots) in West Wales and land enclosure disturbances as in Rhyfel y Sais Bach 1826 to the Rebecca Rebellion of 1839 - 1848 on to the Tithe Riots of the 1880's. Further information on this history i will supply upon request. I am also aware that a symbolic Red Pitch Fork was painted up on barns and walls etc in Brittany during rural disturbances during the 1970's, i do not have much further information on this, if any one does i will be pleased to be further informed myself. It is for all these reasons i have adopted a Pitch Fork as a symbol for Cymdeithas Lewsyn yr Heliwr although i shall also be using symbolically an illustration of a pike as forged by the ''workers army'' that had gathered at Cefn during the first week of June 1831.
Mudiad y Werin: At one point in the 1970's, i remember attending a meeting to discuss the idea of establishing a 'Mudiad y Werin' with purpose of bringing together various groups to work together on a common platform in struggle on issues of largely Socio - Economic Concerns in Wales. This initiative had a short life but perhaps such a movement would not be out of place in Wales today as means by which unity and solidarity as well as resources may be joined in a good common purpose. Of late i am aware of two issues of rubbish dumping against will of local communities, then recently there has been an issue of modern day land enclosure at Llandarcy. On top of this we have had the devastations of Open Cast Mining and not least the devestating Wind Milling of Wales continues, i guess there are many more similar issues that are of pressing concern and no doubt many more will arise over the years ahead. So consider the suggestion of a 'Mudiad y Werin' being revived and relaunched? I am too busy to be involved in further promotion or organisation of such but i am available to put interested parties and individuals in touch with each other, it being my suggestion that a meeting be held at LLANIDLOES to if nothing else discuss potential need, protest platform and programme. (Why Llanidloes, well it's central and a nod in respect to rising there in 1839).

ABERFAN 2006: Still on subject of Coal Mines i remind that the 21 October this year marks the 40th Anniversary of the Aberfan disaster, a tragedy that stands out in the history of our people as much as Tryweryn. Cofia Aberfan is as worthy of our remembrance but in a respectful way. I thus suggest that if you have not visited the Aberfan cemetery to lay flower tributes in the past please do so on or close to this anniversary. Not least if you have children or grand children it will be of positive purpose to take them to visit Aberfan Cemetary/Memorial to educate and inform that this history is of more import that much present day trivia they are bombarded with in our present times not least by the media. In relation to this anniversary it is interesting to note that last years 21 October marked 40th anniversary of the opening of Cwm Celyn Reservoir and the waters of Afon Tryweryn filled the valley. Further, in relation to Aberfan disaster you may be interested to read up on the Buffalo Creek dam disaster brought on by Strip Mining. Owain Glyndwr: September marks the month in which many commemorate and celebrate the day, 16 September on which began the 1400 - 16 - 21 War of Liberation. This last great war of Welsh Independence. of course many socialists and others on the left will say ''what as this got to do with us''. So first i will give such the short reply, by quite simply pointing out this fact. at start of this insurrection Lord Reginald Grey, Glyndwr's 'Bete Noir' had 184 Serfs at end of hostilities on his patch he only had 8 serfs and they were buying their freedom. So what happened to all those other serfs and tenants of the Anglo - Norman Lords and indeed bondmen of Anglo - Welsh Lords. Quite simply along with an underclass of Welsh labourers returning from England to join the Glyndwr rebellion along with many mountain and forest thieves often described as 'Adar y Griem' (Birds of Crime). such became the underclass backbone of Owain Glyndwrs largely 'Peasant Army'. For as the war spread across the country 1000's of serfs and tenants left their Lords in the lurch and run of to become one of Owain Glyndwr's ''Barefoot Welsh Doggis''. Later many of they would become Gwerin Owain outlaw rebels who sustained a ''Bandit'' guerrilla war up to 1421 and in some areas up to 1485. There are many of left persuasion who have no time for pre 1926, 1910, 1831, 1797 or maybe 1536 Welsh History but will ''wax lyrical'' regards the so called English ''rate payers'' Peasants revolt of 1381. It is time of those of this ''Left Persuasion'' got a little education on 1294 what may be seen as the first Welsh Popular revolt against colonialism and conscription. The Llywelyn Bren revolt in the south in 1315 and the ''troubles'' in Y Perfeddwlad in 1345, for it is in this period we see the birth of a Welsh underclass much of which becomes a later peasantry. This history will take you into a Wales eventually of a 16th century land war, in which the peasantry will arise to fight back agaist being turned off their land in the enclosures by the gentry. It is from these times that in the Cwmwd of Caio in West Wales a risen peasantry rally behind the call of 'TRECH GWLAD NAG ARGLWYDD', the slogan i use on banner in picture at top of this news letter. Thus i contend that even as a socialist one should not ignore these chapters in Welsh history. For further information on the creation of a 13th century Welsh Underclass request my article on the Harlech St Valentines Day Massacre 1345, I also am working on article regards Glyndwr and it's aftermath continuing on to 1831 as an attempt to look at our history from a more radical perspective. I will inform when available.
1831 ''memorial as installation'' set up at 'Plas 3 Mehefin 1831', Merthyr Tudful on 3 Mehefin 2006.
"O Arglwydd, dyma ganwedd" (Oh Lord, here is injustice.) These were the last words of Dic Pennderyn just before he was hanged on 13 Awst 1831, close by today there is a plaque recording this tragic event in our history. There is also a plaque in memory of Dic Penderyn on front of Merthyr Town Library, there is however, no memorial to Lewis Lewis leader of the insurrection or in memory of all those killed by the Scots Soldiers in and around the Castle Inn on 3 June 1831. To my mind this is an injustice too that needs to be put right by a fresh appraisal of the events of Red June 1831 and hopefully a plaque being placed close to site of the massacre naming as many of those who were killed that we have names of. There is no doubt at all that Dic Penderyn suffered a very great injustice and in this year of the 175th anniversary of his death one would have thought a greater effort might have been made to seek and win a posthumous pardon, but no! Why? perhaps because those who in past have sought a pardon have had the wind taken out of their sails? I will touch further on this below but here make point that the campaign must continue despite the legalities of it all, heart may be taken from fact that recently WW I soldiers executed for a verity of reasons recieved pardon on moral grounds not on basis of military law in period of 1914 - 18. Thus so too sholud Dic Penderyn, Edward Morgan of the Scotch Cattle and other Working class martyrs like wise receive pardons. Campaign goes on!
So that reactionary ex cop in HTV CRIME SOLVERS came up with the fact that DIC DID IT!, this is something i became aware of last year when first beginning to do research on the ANTUR 1831 INITIATIVE. In course of organising this initiative i attempted to revitalise the posthumous pardon for Dic Penderyn Campaign but met with little enthusiasm from people who had prior been involved in promotion of such. In time some information came my way pointing to article by Nicholas Cooke Q.C. which i have already mentioned in last Cymdeithas Lewsyn yr Heliwr Newsletter. What i did not mention in that newsletter however was the fact that my informant mentioned to me that the said article was based on research done by Nicholas Cooke Q.C. at request of those involved with the Dic Penderyn Posthumous award campaign. However, the conclusions he had come to only served to undermine the cause of this campaign, as result his conclusions were ditched by the campaign but Nicholas Cooke subsequently produced an article later published in a Journal. There for some years it remained in the shadows until i had been informed of it's existence and obviously too, Crimesolver had also discovered it. As result of this originally commissioned research and later reproduced as an article the posthumous campaign had the steam taken out of it's belly and all this year of 175th Anniversary has generally remained very muted. Not even the Dic Penderyn Society has stuck it's head out or been interested in taking the posthumous campaign radically further. Comment: Long before all this i and others had come to the opinion that DIC DONE IT! but so what, he was still a working class hero and still a victim of the state and thus a martyr. Of course this does not suit the ''Welsh bourgeoisie pacifist mind set'' of certain ''movers and shakers'' of the ''Welsh White Glove'' mentality who bleat on about violence, even when that violence is used against Imperialist oppressors and capitalist exploiters as in 1831. This is why such ''irksome ilk'' of bourgeoisie educators, historians and ''opinion formers'' have shoved Lewis Lewis well out of sight into a dark corner of Welsh History. Lewis Lewis radical leader, orator and fighter for the rights of the people is the hero of 1831 but so to his Dic Penderyn and both are martyrs as the exile of Lewis and three others in transport to Austrailia makes them martyrs of struggle. My final argument is quite simply ''stuff the legalities'' all these hero martyrs should be pardoned on moral grounds to put an historic wrong right! To conclude Dic Penderyn stabbing the Scots Soldier was justifiable and would even have been justifiable if he had killed him, let us remember these soldiers were trained and prepared to kill workers and about mid day on 3 June 1831 they did, killing my murderous point blank musket fire at least 26 people if not more. To be hence annually commemorated on Saturday following 3 June with events at Cefn, Plas 3 Mehefin 1831 and in Cyfarthfa Park.

UP FOR A GOOD FORKING: BIG BROTHER. I would rather ignore it but that is almost impossible to do so with all the ''Cymru Crap'' being said in it's favour, because the ''forking Sun'' printed a few words ''Yn Cymraeg'' TO PUSH UP IT'S SALES YOU DUMB SHITS! Is it not time C4 got shot of a programme that largely victimises a growing underclass and not least is exploitive of women though a few might argue it ''empowers'' women. HHHhhhmmm!!! Others can argue over that one but it seems to me that C4's BIG BROTHER has become the BIG PIMP for women who seek to advance their careers in modelling or porn, i am amazed that this matter has not been more questioned but i am even more amazed that ''feminists'' have not been more demonstrative in discontent regards this programme. After all it is using ideas closer to a RAT RUN and PAVALOVS DOG, what next? I am not at all fooled by the feeble fraudulent patriotism of S4C exploiting Glyn and Imogen as part of the ''Dumbing Down'' of Cymraeg TV. The truth is that the 'Mediacrachach' of S4C are worried to death about the decline in their viewing figures and are quite prepared to go the way of C4 to keep a ''youthful audience''. To such end purpose the Cardiff 'Mediacrachach' are quite prepared to feed ''pobl Cymraeg'' with a diet of what some years back would have been called ''SAIS SHIT''. This is all to sustain their unwanted Bourgeoisie well heeled existence as Y CRACHACH NEWYDD, our very own Noveau Riche. A class i may add that needs to die out and not be sustained as a burden to our country, communities and people. I dare to ask the question: IS IT NOT TIME THAT S4C WAS DITCHED? and in it's place an Autonomous Decentralised Peoples Community TV Service was initiated to serve 'Cymraeg' speaking communities and indeed other communities of Wales too! Why not? Do we really need that expensive lie and fraud of S4C? NO! Afterthough: The response towards BB or lack of response from many of what we may descibe as the ''RADICAL CYMRU CHIC'' aka ''PALE PINK WELSH LEFTIES'' and our very own 'Cymreig' ''CHAMPAGNE SOCIALISTS''' tells us much about the reality of their ''opportunist politics''. As for Rhodri Morgan and his message to ''Glyn to Win'', what can i say other than ''FOR FORK SAKE GET REAL!''.

In some relation to above BB matter, I suggest that ''knee jerk patriots'' and ''ultra cultural nationalists'' with often closed minds and tunnel vision take a particular interest in this book. Not only is it of much interest on a largely unknown chapter in American history and highly illuminating on the patriotic pitfalls of blind patriotism but should, i hope politically educate much on the dangers of ever trusting the bourgeoisie and yes! in a Welsh context that does mean Y CRACHACH NEWYDD - England's Client Tribe.
