[Imc-cymru] Wales United Kollective?

  From the Social Forum Cymru(Wales) in Aberystwyth (end April - May 1st 2006.
  www.socialforumcymru.org.uk  ) a number of people supported the idea of developing an 'Indymedia Cymru' type space linked to the SFCymru site Forum.
  This Forum was & is hosted by the Cynefin y Werin / Common Ground website.
   
  This space IS NOW OPERATING in an embryo form AT:
   
  LATEST INTERNATIONAL, EUROPEAN and NATIONAL NEWS
  www.cynefinywerin.org.uk/forum/ 
   
  Please contribute to it.
   
  The advantage of this model was seen in that it is linked to the all-Wales activist networks who came together to form the Social Forum Cymru and who's activities are described and discussed on the Themed Networks sections on the Forum.
   
  This model of Activist Network - linked 'Alternative Media' was also discussed in various Media Activist Seminars/Workshops at the European Social Forum in Athina/Athens in May 2006 and will be developed at the European Preparatory Assembly(ESF) in Frankfort Am Main, Germany this November coming.
   
  The weakness of the Indymedia United Kollectives model is seen as it's general isolation from the existing Activists Networks.

I'm aware that the indycymru site is no longer functioning and that there are some strong feelings around its demise.  If people can re-start it, then I'm sure that's fine, but what I am particularly interested in is a Wales indymedia group which would be part of the Indymedia United Kollectives, whose aims and objectives etc. I am happy to accept. The reason I'd like to see this is that when I post to indymedia uk, posts about Welsh news get lost very quickly amongst everything else.  If Wales had its own site, then Welsh posts could still be sent to the UK site, but could also be viewed together on a Wales indymedia site, wouldn't get lost so easily, and I could see what sort of things were happening in other parts of Wales without having to do too much hunting around.  I think that it would be a good place for activists in Wales to share what they are doing, rally support, etc.  I think we could ask indymedia uk to help us with techie things, we'd share their server and
 they would help us get a web site sorted out. 

What do existing members of this group think about this idea?
