I've been following the discussion and don't really understand why
there has to be a hold up. There are activists in Wales willing to do
the work, Indymedia UK is presumably in favour of diversity and
reflecting what's going on in Wales, the technology is there and,
bob's your uncle - off we go!
Ana has made some very positive concrete proposals as has Genny. I am
happy to contribute to Indymedia Cymru and think the people who run
these things should know how we feel.
There has been a fair bit of negativity on this board in the past,
mainly over fairly obscure technical matters. I don't think we've got
time to be divided on such petty matters, comrades. Far better to
have a platform (even if there are others, the more the merrier) to
reflect the increasing amount of environmental, anti-capitalist and
pro-democracy struggles taking place in Wales.
On the matter of language, I think we should show flexibility. If
there are people willing to post in Welsh and who can provide a
translation, then that should be on Indymedia Cymru. We're a nation
of two national language (as well as several others) and a democratic
voice should reflect that wherever possible. But a monolingual
platform is better, at this stage, than none at all.
All the best
Seren
