[Imc-cymru] the case for IMC

OK, perhaps I should make the case for an IMC site rather than
assuming anything.
There are loads of existing blogs and websites promoting localised
struggles in Wales and the world. We don't need one single website,
we need an interweaving network of media links to ensure that we all
know about them. Local activists drawn into campaigning through one
website will then link to others and be drawn into making the
connections between various struggles.
The Gwent anarchists are doing a great job, Social Forum activists
are busy, local campaigns like the gas pipeline and Hafod quarry are
ongoing and we have various organisations linking them together in
Wales and beyond. Because Indymedia is a first point of contact for
many activists, it makes sense to have a distinctive Cymru site.
It's not instead of anything, it's an additional thread in the web of
contacts. I wouldn't stop doing Seren if IMC started but would be
happy for IMC to link to Seren and vice versa when there was a
relevant story. I like the idea of a decentralised web of activity,
both for political and security reasons - if IMC is taken down for
some reason, we have other alternative news outlets.
I hope it can be done quickly. My main concern is that Ana says
"decide if you want" and I'm wondering who has the right to decide
(anyone on this list? people who go to meetings?). Apologies, but I
can't attend meetings in London (hard enough getting me to meetings
in Wrexham!) and I hope this list can push this forward as quickly as
possible.
