Both the regimes in the south and the north of our divided country, with the collaboration of journalists and the mainstream media of the establishment, have been actively suppressing news from this section of the liberation movement: the wing of the pro-democracy movement in the north which is waging a campaign to boycott the upcoming elections in the north. The campaign challenges the legitimacy of the elections, due to reasons of military occupation and of a changed demography due to colonization, illegal settlement, and ethnic cleansing.

Every pro-democracy movement in the world faces the same dilemma: if the regime is illegitimate, do we participate in elections, or do we reject participation and invite the people to build democracy in the streets? News from the north and political developments on this question, here:

Even in the south, these news have been suppressed due the opportunist and authoritarian policies of the establishment parties and the government, adding to the racism and chauvinism which have been dividing our communities. As a result, progressive communities in Turkey, Greece, and the rest of the Diaspora are also kept in the dark about this new effort to unite our people on the basis of genuine anti-racism and community- based democracy.
