-----

It is spring in "the island at the center of the
world" also known as Cyprus. The dust from Sahara is
gone and the sky has that electrifying orgonomic
beauty of the springtime Mediterranean sky.

Yesterday some of us traveled to the beach. The day
was beautiful. On the road we noticed that the birds
in the sky were flirting all the way. Following one
another getting their wings entangled dropping and
suddenly leaving each other to continue the flying
dance of spring. We saw different kind of birds.
Sparrows, swallows, even hawks, the small kind that
lives in the island. And the distinctive black and
white kind of crows. In my childhood we used the name
korazinos for them. They were majestic. Kind of
bigger than the usual black crows and very similar to
some kind of African scavenger birds. Their size made
the flirting dance even more majestic. Our trip was
continuously interrupted by the phrase: "Look! It's
beautiful!"

I remembered one of my favorite North American myths
from the tradition of the Lacota nation. That the
crow is the being signifying the present by having one
eye turned towards the past and one towards the
future. Thus it is always here and now, very much
like the way I perceive our work in the Liberation
Movement. Then the stories from old people about the
holiness of korazinoi and what a great sin was to kill
one. Of course "uneducated" old people see most of
the wild birds of the sky as holy.

Later at night I made the dreadful mistake to watch
the news on TV. Turning the set on I saw the familiar
face of the Minister of Interior Neoklis Silikiotis.
A lot of people in our efforts consider him as a
moderate friendly leftist. He was explaining to the
Media the reasons why he has given special permission
for the sport of crow hunting. It seems that for the
past five years the government has been giving this
permission to the hunters of the island in violation
of the European Law and with the excuse that the
number of crows that soared our skies for millennia
have suddenly become a danger to Agriculture. To the
fear that hunters will kill anything that flies
including species that are at the brink of extinction
the Minister said: "This is not the case. Tell Me,
bring Me solid information in such cases."

Maybe it's time for the word scapegoat to be replaced
with scapecrow in English (and apodiopompaios tragos
into apodiopompaios korax in Hellenic). In an island
where the criminal policies of the governments of the
past and present have created a condition where water
is rationed on an everyday basis, where Coca-Cola and
golf courses keep getting promoted as non stop water
consuming enterprises we must shoot the crows. That's
how the socialist government will save agriculture.
And our Minister will personally see that hunters will
do their job. After all their votes are more
important for socialism than scapecrows...

Those of us who travel to the countryside have seen
what most hunters do to respect nature. They shoot
everything including electricity posts, street signs,
water tanks, anything that can be a target to their
rage. In some cases they are also the reason for
fires through both their shooting and also their
waste. And they will distinct between crows and other
birds? Yet rest assured the Minister will personally
see to it. Such ego-socialism and glorification of
the Self reminds me of aspects of Wilhelm Reich's work
in his prophetic masterpiece "The mass psychology of
Fascism". I am shocked by the arrogance of the
pseudo-socialists that govern us. They stop at
nothing with no sense of shame and no end to their
political downfall covered under the " revolutionary
socialist" ideology.

Later at the same news the Minister of Justice Kypros
Chrysostomides was placed in an awkward position. He
was asked about the annual report on Terrorism of the
State Department that thanked the socialist government
of Cyprus for all its help on the "war against terror"
and especially for the use of it's airspace and
airports for the needs of the ongoing war against our
neighboring countries. He replied that "There are no
evidence for such use...".

His comments were also published in the Financial
Mirror here
http://www.financialmirror.com/more_news.php?id=10837&nt=Politics:

"Replying to a question whether Cypriot airports in
Larnaca and Pafos are used by US airplanes for the
transportation of persons allegedly involved in
terrorism to concentration camps, Chrysostomides said,
''there is no clear testimony which proves such a
view.''

Who does he think he is kidding? Doesn't he and the
pseudo-socialist who rule for the past five years
realize that their hands are soaking in the blood of
the innocent of the Middle East? The answer is that
they do. But they will do everything to cover up
their dirty deeds, that they will use their power and
their mechanisms to find scapecrows instead of
choosing the path to socialism.
