Dear folks!
We have heard from various parts of Washington DC:
people in neighborhoods, in activist circles, in other
media organizations, local businesses, in youth
programs, and, also, people at lunch program for
homeless people. The vast majority of responses have
ranged from positive to extremely positive.
There are, of course, a few people who wanted to see
something different. (For example, one person wrote:
Sports matter!) But in general people like the
paper or loved it. They like the format, the
alternative news content, the offerings of resources,
ways to take action, and even the advertising policy.
I want to tell you about the enthusiasm weve received
from all quarters. It is something special when a
person in the community wants to shake my hand and
thank me. I have been told many times what a great
thing this is and I always respond by saying that
there are a number of people who have been involved.
I need to communicate this to you: that there is great
sense of gratitude, enthusiasm, and in this political
climate, relief, that something like the Washington
Spark has appeared. And theres excitement when they
hear we are building toward weekly production.
I have attached a reflection on what we've done so
far.
Thanks to all of you and welcome to the new folks.
Stay tuned for the next steps.
mark
