The following is an overview and list of needs for coordinating and 
distributing independent media during the inauguration. I know this email is 
a little long, but please read it and reply to me at chrisstrohm at yahoo.com 
with any help you can offer. Thanks. Chris

NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the DC inauguration media group will be Tuesday Jan.4 
from 8pm to 10pm at Cafe Mawonaj, 624 T Street NW (near the intersection of 
7th Street and T Street NW, about 1 block from the Howard Shaw metro stop on 
the Green Line). The meeting is open to all who wish to do or coordinate 
media during the inauguration. If you want to help but can’t come to the

OVERVIEW
We will have three media workspaces from Jan. 10 to Jan. 24, all with 
broadband Internet and utilities. The exact locations of the spaces will be 
announced shortly (email me if you need to know now). One space will be used 
for web postings, breaking news, dispatch, audio production, photo scanning 
and Internet radio. The other spaces will be used for video production.

LIST OF NEEDS
The following is a list of needs for media projects and spaces

1. Spaces
Moving schedule: Need somebody to coordinate plan and volunteers to move 
equipment into spaces.
Staffing schedule: Need somebody to coordinate a staffing schedule for the 
spaces, including what hours the spaces will be open to the public.
Volunteers: Need volunteers to help move and staff the spaces.
Need to come up with a registration system for people to use the spaces.

2. Website
What other updates are needed on the website at www.inaugurationmedia.org?
Need staffing schedule for www.dc.indymedia.org during the inauguration for 
breaking news, creating features and deleting spam.

3. Media Projects
Need to write up explanation of what people can do at each media space, and 
what kind of resources are at each space.
Need to know if media producers have any other specific needs.
Can anybody help setup and maintain Internet radio during the inauguration?
Need somebody to coordinate film screenings during the week of the 
inauguration.
Need status on updating the DC Media Kit.
Need to print copies of DC Media Kit.

4. Distribution
Need to determine plan for distributing independent media to outlets and 
audiences during inauguration.
Need to coordinate a satellite feed of video content during inauguration.

5. Outreach
Need status report of where the outreach letter has gone to date.
Need to compile a database of contacts.
Need to determine what other groups we should contact, especially 
independent media groups.
Need translation of outreach letter to Spanish, French, Arabic and maybe 
German.

6. Fundraising
Need status of fundraising efforts, especially with local businesses.
Need to finalize budget.
Need translation of fundraising letter to Spanish, French, Arabic and maybe 
German.

7. Trainings
Need somebody to coordinate a schedule of media trainings during the weekend 
before the inauguration.
Need volunteers to offer training courses.

8. Legal
Need a handout to give to reporters informing them of their rights in the 
field during the inauguration.
Need to post legal guidelines for what to do in the space if there’s an 
emergency.

9. Tech Support
Need tech volunteers
We specifically need the following:
8 PC monitors
3 Mac monitors
3 Mac keyboards and monitors
6 power cords
128 MB of PC100-322S RAM
10 Ethernet cables
External harddrives
External CD burner
Printer with software/drivers
