4) This week's summary
of under-reported news
Compiled by Bob Nixon
• The fate of the so-called partial birth ban is on the top of the docket for the U.S. Supreme Court. Pro-choice activists are leery over what could happen if the Supreme Court overturns the historic 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion rights. Anti-abortion forces are much better organized at the state and local level than the pro-choice movement.
• The Ohio Senate race between progressive candidate Sherrod Brown and social conservative Sen. Mike DeWine is so razor tight, that Bush adviser Karl Rove has made it a priority to hold onto the Ohio Senate seat.
• The FDA's food safety division insists a similar E. coli outbreak could happen again unless fundamental fixes are in place.
