   As crude oil surges toward $100 a barrel, global energy consumers are now paying up to $5 billion more every day than they did five years ago as a global shift in wealth goes to exporting nations and poor oil importing nations suffer price shock. 
   Ron Paul, the antiwar, libertarian Republican presidential candidate made history in early November by raising $4.2 million online in a single day.
