Hello Denmark people,
We've (finally) completed the code that will allow us to upgrade
Denmark's installation of Hyperactive, the software that runs
indymedia.dk. I've set up an experimental installation of the software
on the Denmark server and managed to get the database upgrades to work,
so that it'll be easy to upgrade the code on the main site.
The new software has a lot of features that your version doesn't have -
probably the most important addition is that the new version has a
"groups" feature, so activist groups can have their own presence on the
site and group their articles, events, and videos into it. I think
maybe this would be of interest to the Autonom Info Service people.
There are also hundreds of other bug fixes and small improvements.
In order to get the upgrade done, we'll need some stuff to happen:
a) the site is going to need to be translated into Danish again. Some
needs to download this file:
http://projects.escapegoat.org/repositories/changes/hyperactive/config/locales/en.yml
and translate all the English text in it into Danish. Click the
"download" link on that page to get a copy of the file, and I guess you
can just email it to me or something when it's done. If you want an
example of a file that's already been done (Brazilian Portugese), you
can see one at:
http://projects.escapegoat.org/repositories/changes/hyperactive/config/locales/pt-BR.yml
Hopefully that should give you an idea of how to do it. It's not really
a technical task, any bilingual person could do it.
b) we'll need to talk a bit about what you want on your front page,
specifically:
* I assume that unlike the London site, you'd still want everything on
the front page to appear as soon as it's published (including events)?
* Would you want to have any RSS feeds pulled in on the front page? On
the London site (http://london.indymedia.org.uk) we pull in a feed of
promoted articles from Indymedia UK. I was thinking that maybe you'd
want to pull in a feed from modkraft.dk or something? There's no need
to do this, it's just an idea.
Anyway, I'll wait to hear back from you, feel free to email or hassle me
in IRC if you want to talk about this stuff,
Yossarian
