Hi,

I am an editor of www.perth.indymedia.org

I'm coming to Copenhagen to make a documentary on COP15 and the related
protests (please see below for more info on the documentary). It would be
good to meet up with any indymedia folk while i am there...

A couple of favours/questions.... Unfortunately, and perhaps typically, we
have just had our funding cut and will now have to hire gear in Copenhagen
to help reduce the cost, does anyone have any suggestions as to where we
could hire a professional HDV camera in Copenhagen? Also, after the summit
i'll be staying on for a few weeks, do you have any suggestions for (cheap!)
places I could possibly stay?

This December the world’s media will turn its attention to Copenhagen,
the site of what is being widely perceived as a critically important
global conference on climate change.  Heads of State from dozens of
countries will discuss greenhouse gas reduction targets and the
feasibility of initiating an international carbon-trading scheme.  But
will this be the real story?  Groups like Climate Justice Action are
planning huge mobilisations outside the conference venue with a view
to shutting down what they regard as a farcical summit that will do
nothing to solve the grave environmental crisis facing the planet.

Is such a militant approach justified?  Are environmental activists
better off inside or outside the conference hall?  What are the real
solutions to climate change?  Can the capitalist system, the very
socio-economic structure that has possibly brought the world to the
brink of ecological catastrophe, be trusted to provide these
solutions?

These are just some of the questions that will be addressed by
documentary filmmakers Raymond Grenfell and Alex Whisson when they
travel to Copenhagen to cover the protests.  With a wealth of
independent journalistic experience behind them, the two will be well
placed to interview many of the key participants in the protests
planned to coincide with the COP15 climate talks.

As well as producing a documentary to be screened on their return to
Perth, Alex and Ray will be providing daily video updates to the Avaaz
website as the summit and protests unfold.
