our switch from dada to drupal is near complete. posting to bigmuddy will be off for awhile as we change the database over to drupal. the switch isn't going  as poorly as we thought. fortunately we have a clean database on the test drupal site as all new material is lost when the old database is loaded. there are some bugs but with the help of the authorship and views modules it works. the authorship allowed for arbitrary author tags 
 the views module along with categories makes it pretty easy to create a category view/block that displays only
Local/Nonlocal/Otherpress news.  We  also used categories for the Story Type(Announcement/Review/Story/etc) as well as for the
Topic(environment/sexuality/gender/etc).
basically it was just 7 sql statements after things were straightened out. hopefully, we have documented all our steps and can pass them along.
