[Imc-drupal-dev] advice on events setup

For drupal 5
* I've had bad experiences with the events module when i tried to
DISable it. it doesn't clean up after itself, producing errors when
you use events content other view, //even// views that have nothing
to do with date...
* the ical output embeds dud html in subscribed iCal user's iCal
* The event module code is very messy, so i just don't feel
comfortable having it around
* I also personally dislike weekly calendar views because they are
such a mess to style - I prefer to do teaser list summaries by date,
which is much better done with views, and allows you to have more
than about 2 events per day without the page getting hopelessly messy...
The date api solution has worked much better and way more flexibly
for me, and took no more time to set up (since we weren't using basic
event module, we had to create the new CCK 'event' content anyway...
since we wanted an upcoming event view anyway we had to set up the
view anyway... i think this is how my experience was different to
Bruno's)
The date JS widget works fine on every browser that we've tried and
works fast. no problems there.
Please let me know if you get leech to work for events! I've been
meaning to work that one out for months, but haven't had the time.
Cheers,
dan
