(You'll have to wait, I don't know how far off D6 CCK may be... I'd say
this is the case for a fair few 'essential' modules... but...)

I think if you create CCK fields for these you will be able to use them
appropriately if you want. I've certainly toyed with the idea of making
the author field (optionally) free form.

If there is enough demand for it may even be worth writing a simple CCK
field module that can display 'authenticated' and 'unauthenticated' aliases.

Yes it's called cvs.drupal.org :-) If it really is very indymedia
related then I suggest we use the normal indymedia repository codecoop.org
