I have written a module that migrates dadaimc databases to drupal 6.x.
It also sets up redirects so that the old urls won't die. Eg

somewhere.indymedia.org/newswire/display/1234/index.php

would redirect to

somewhere.indymedia.org/node/84762398 (or whatever)

It uses the new drupal 6 batch process thing, which avoids maximum
execution time death and has a pretty progress bar.

There is lots of work still to do. I have identified some mismatches
between dada and drupal.

* Drupal has no readable usernames. In dada you might have user name
'bob123' and visible name 'Bob Bobson'.

* Dada has anonymously submitted articles and comments where the
submitter still gives a name. (uid and name of submitter are both stored)

* Some old dada installs have passwords in the mysql PASSWORD() format.

Also the extra feature 'teaser' visible on the front page is not yet
imported to drupal. I'm not sure what to do with it yet.

Anyway, I hope this is useful to other groups aiming to move from dada
to drupal.

BTW, i'm sitting on drupal 6 versions of the city list and newswire
modules and other stuff. We need a subversion repository so we can share
this stuff and work on it together.
