[Imc-drupal-dev] mobile voices CMS

Hi,

Concerning the Knight Foundation, we entered a proposal with
Indymedia.be (see https://hub.indymedia.be/node/12) for their
Newschallenge competition (2007). Our
idea was to create a Drupal-'distribution' for citizen media projects.
Even though our proposal didn't get selected, we're building it for our
new website (first step: renew our website; once that works well, create
the distribution/install profile).

Our Knight Foundation proposal seems to be pretty close to what Acquia
is doing with Carbon: http://acquia.com/projects/wiki/carbon. I spoke to
Dries about this at Drupalcon, and he was interested in collaborating
around this. What do you people think about this? I think it would be
interesting to see what they come up with, to learn from it/them, ...

That said, I like the Knight Foundation's current take on things, asking
the Drupal community for ideas to fund. This could certainly open some
doors to funding.
